“Let go of the battle. Breathe quietly and let it be. Let your body relax and your heart soften. Open to whatever you experience without fighting.” – Jack Kornfield
The world around us is fighting to survive. In the United States and abroad, communities are fighting for survival. Gas prices are high. Grocery prices are high. Angry emotions are high. People from all walks of life are fighting literally and figuratively for economic opportunities and stability for their families.
The best way to stand strong and navigate the turmoil is to let go of the resentment. History unfolds in waves. There are cycles of highs and lows. We have the power to vote. The power to vote is the biggest tool in our arsenal. We need to avoid destructive outlets that may make us feel good in the moment but infringe on the rights of others.
As an individual, whether you have a community, family, or a job, you must let go of the battle. Stand in the light of what you can control—your perception and reaction to the elements of life. You cannot help anyone if you are drowning in anger and resentment inspired by the news or social media.
If you can cook a homecooked meal today, do it. If today, you can drive to work, do it. If today, you can turn on the TV and tune in to a silly, fun movie, do it. This will pass. Wait it out. Do not take actions that cannot be undone. Simplify your life.
